Jinku, the East-African artiste, has joined hands with RnB musician Karun, to give music lovers a 7-track EP dubbed “Passenger 555”. The EP is meant to be received on two levels: as a story of love that is wavering, whereas backwards, it “presents a tale of a faltering love being reignited”

The Nigerian afropop songstress has returned with her fifth studio album, “TBH (To Be Honest). Produced by Pheelz, Blaise Beatz, Ozedikus, P. Prime and AYK Beats, it features fellow Nigerian singer Fave, her husband Adekunle Gold and her daughter with a small part on the “Easy” track.

Naira Marley – God’s Timing’s The Best

The British-Nigerian Afrobeat/hippop artiste, Naira Marley, released his long overdue album “God’s Timing’s The Best”. The album has some incredible features like Zinoleesky, Jada Kingdom, MHD, Busisiwa, Mayorkun, Lil Kesh, Chivv & Diquenza. The 14-track album already holds at least four hit songs.

Worlasi’s 3rd studio album; WORLA – THE MAN & THE GOD, is a collaborative album with his day one band – SENKU; who WORLASI gives production & composition credits to. The 10 track album was recorded live. An album inspired by the great Ghanaian band OSIBISA — a vibe of native elements, comedic compositions & great musicianship through and through.

The listening session saw him perform 5 of the songs off the upcoming 10-track album scheduled for release on the 1st of December.

Worla’s sound continues to growth in depth. From the traditional elements, distinct lyrics, unique style of tap & song that keeps his verses sought after by many of his fellow artists. His native tongue; Ewe is still very dominant in the songs we heard with a few verses of pidgin laced in.

If this Listening is anything to go by, we’re all in for an incredible experience at his upcoming FESTIVAL scheduled for the 7th of December also at Alliance Francaise.

Bertha Bridget Kankam popularly known as Yaa Yaa has just released her new single titled ‘E Be Money’

‘E Be Money’ means ‘because of money’. In the Song she say the different names for money in different languages; such as French, Twi and Ga.

The song talks about how everything we do is because of money. She talks about how we sweat, hustle and work because of money. All of our goings and comings are linked to money.

The song is uptempo and has a catchy chorus and beat. You can still sense the soul in the music so it doesn’t take away from the style of music we know Yaa Yaa to do. It’s relatable to everyone as we are all in it for the money, one way or another, though we may not want to necessarily admit it.

For me personally, I’d say I like the sound, the song has a message behind it and it speak concerning everyday life.

“Saa Ara, saa ara,  saa ara ,ade akye oo” which simply translates in to the Ghanaian local tongue “just like that,just like that, it’s morning”!  An afro beats single from Juls ft Kwesi Arthur, has some sort of lyrical identification most people in the Ghanaian community resonate to, vividly creating a picture of people going about their daily jobs when one takes a listen ,basically on the hustle. With the beat of thudding drums and playing of traditional instruments Juls’ “Saa ara” reeks of a pure African sound with the  seal of hip hop beat for its chorus. The lyrical  content of the song talks of the daily struggles people go through, but “saa ara” (just like that ) without breaking the monotonym of life, there comes another another morning.  A sound that has a little  semblance with that of femi kutis’,but fresh enough to make anyone heed back to their roots with appreciation of language and origin!
