Asake has been ranked the most streamed Nigerian singer on Spotify for 2024.

Spotify made this known on Wednesday during the 2024 edition of its annual recap of listeners’ musical choices, ‘Wrapped’.

Also, his albums ‘Work of Art’, ‘Lungu Boy’, and ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ dominate the list of most-streamed Nigerian albums of the year 2024.

While Young Jonn’s ‘Jiggy Forever’ ranked as the most-streamed album of the year, Burna Boy emerged Nigeria’s most-exported artist and the only Nigerian in the UK’s top 100.

Famous afrobeat musician, Wizkid has paid his disc jockey, DJ Tunez N10 million to play singer Asake’s hit song, Fuji Vibe.

Wizkid made the payment to DJ Tunez, during his sold-out concert in London.

In a now trending video from the concert, DJ Tunez made the announcement which led to an explosion of cheers and applause from the audience.

He said, “One of the Afrobeat singers Wizkid just paid me N10 million now to play this song.”

DJ Tunez’s performance with ‘Fuji Vibe’ stands out as a major highlight of the night, as the crowd sang along.

Asake’s performance at his sold-out show at the 17,000-capacity State Farm Arena in Atlanta began on August 16, 2024, and is set to run for 10 days.

In a trending video on social media, Davido appeared backstage with American rapper Quavo to support Asake during the live performance.

Other musicians in attendance included Nigerian hitmaker Zlatan and American rapper Russ Millions.

DAILY POST reports that Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ tour is set to cover six U.S. cities, where he will headline notable venues including Madison Square Garden in New York, the Toyota Center in Houston, and the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Asake’s tour comes just days after the release of his latest hit, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which features several superstars, including Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, Travis Scott and Brazilian singer Ludmilla.

Asake took the stage as a DJ, treating fans to a thrilling “Lungu Boy Experience” with live mashups from his latest album, “Lungu Boy.” The performance, held in an intimate setting, saw Asake mixing his new tracks while fans vibed to the beats in real-time.

“Lungu Boy” marks Asake’s third studio album and features collaborations with Ludmilla, Central Cee, Stormzy, Travis Scott, and Wizkid. This latest release follows his earlier albums—“Work Of Art” (2023) and “Mr Money With The Vibe” (2022).

“Lungu Boy” represents a new iteration of Afrobeats, embracing a fusion of domestic and international influences. “It’s a new field,” Asake says. “I refuse to limit myself and strive to share my African heritage with the world through a blend that goes beyond just a sound.”

Asake, at the opening ceremony, thrilled fans with his hit singles.

He performed the full version of ‘Fuji Extravaganza’ his highly anticipated single, which is expected to be in his upcoming album ‘Lungu Boy.’

Afronation 2024 Portugal will run from June 26–28 at Algarve Portimao in Portugal.

Afro Nation, an annual music concert that celebrates Africans in the diaspora, is considered one of the biggest concerts in the world.

Nigerian rap heavyweight Olamide surprised fans with a new project announcement just hours after his performance at Davido and Chioma‘s wedding. Titled “Ikigai,” the 7-track project translates to “reason for being” or “life’s purpose” in Japanese.

“Ikigai” marks Olamide’s 10th solo album and 15th project overall. The album boasts collaborations with both current and former YBNL associates. Fans can expect to hear YBNL stars Fireboy DML and Asake on track 3, “Uptown Disco.” The project also features a reunion with past YBNL members Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh on the closing track, “Synchro System.”

This news comes on the heels of Olamide’s successful 2023 album “Unruly,” which included hit songs like “Trumpet” featuring CKay, “New Religion” with Asake, and “Jinja.”

Riding the wave of excitement for his upcoming album, Asake drops a brand new single, “Wave,” featuring British rapper Central Cee. The release doesn’t stop there – Asake also unveils the energetic music video for the track.

The visuals showcase Asake and Central Cee grooving through various Lagos locations. They’re joined by friends and interact with the energy of the city streets.

This single launch comes just ahead of Asake’s “Lungu Boy World Tour,” kicking off on June 26th. The tour kicks off at Afro Nation Portugal and culminates at Promiseland Festival in Gold Coast on October 6th.

TurnTable Charts announced this in a list released on its official X account on Wednesday.

Asake has enjoyed huge commercial success since the release of his hit single ‘Omo Ope’ in 2022.

In a list of 2023 most streamed Nigerian artistes, the singer topped the list with 654 million streams.

He garnered 654 million streams across Boomplay, Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music.

Seyi Vibez ranked second with 533 million streams after releasing 2 albums and 2 EPs, while Davido is 3rd on the list with 328 streams courtesy of his fourth album ‘Timeless’.

Omah Lay comes 4th with 301 million streams while Burna Boy rounds off the top 5 on the list with 282 million streams aided by the release of his seventh album ‘I Told Them’.
