Afrobeats singer, Davido, has expressed pride after he retained his record as the only artist to occupy the top 16 spots on the Spotify Nigeria Daily Top Songs Chart for two consecutive days despite new album from his colleague, Wizkid.

Wizkid’s new album, ‘Morayo’ broke several records on Spotify but songs from the album failed to occupy the top 16 spots on the Spotify Nigeria Daily Top Songs Chart for two consecutive days, a record set by Davido ‘Timeless’ last year.

Following Wizkid’s failure to break Davido’s record, a music-monitoring platform, The Data Dash wrote via X, “@davido remains the only artist to occupy the Top 16 spots on the Spotify Nigeria Daily Top Songs Chart for 2 consecutive days, with all new songs from his album ‘Timeless’.”

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stated that the current cultural renaissance in Africa has positively influenced the continent’s image.

He noted that the global achievements of genres like Afrobeats, along with Africa’s cuisine and overall culture, have earned respect for Africans in the Western world.

Speaking in a recent interview with Kiss Fresh UK, Davido said, “This summer, I was in Europe a lot. I had like two gigs, but I was on vacation. And I saw that the landscape has changed. Two years ago, when I was in Europe, they were playing Afrobeats for straight one hour.

“I mean, people love Afrobeats. Everybody likes that sound now, even in America. Even when we want to collaborate with American artists and we want to do their own sound, they are like, no, no, let’s do Afrobeats.

“Now, the narrative [about Africans] has changed. The respect is there. Not only in music but in fashion, food.”

Among the many entires is five-time Grammy Award winner, Angelique Kidjo. The legendary singer officially submitted her latest track “Joy” featuring Nigeria’s superstar, Davido, for consideration in two categories: Best African Music Performance and Record of the Year.

Not stopping there, Angelique has also submitted “Sunlight to My Soul,” featuring the Soweto Gospel Choir and written by Diane Warren, for Best Global Music Performance and Song of the Year.

“Joy” marks the second collaboration between Angelique Kidjo and Davido, who previously teamed up for the hit song “Na Money” in 2023.

Grammy Award-winning artist Angélique Kidjo is not done sharing the goodness of her single “Joy,” featuring Nigerian music superstar Davido. Fresh off the success of the track, she has just released a brand new music video, stating, “We received so much love for that song that we wanted to celebrate JOY once more with you!”

The official video for the remix of “Ogechi,” the hit track by BoyPee, Hyce, and Brown Joel featuring Davido, has dropped. Produced by Adeola Omooba, the video brings the song’s lyrics to life.

The song itself is a declaration of love, with the artists vying for the affection of a woman named Ogechi. They shower her with compliments and promises of commitment, all while facing whispers of doubt.

Directed by Dammy Twitch, the video unfolds in a picturesque village setting. South African DJ duo, TxC – Tarryn and Clair, and Nigerian superstar, Davido have dropped the music video for their latest collaboration, “Yebo.”

The track, featuring fellow South African artists, LeeMckrazy, Djy Biza, and record producer Tony Duardo,  is the third track on TxC’s debut EP “Turn Off The Lights,” a fusion of Afrobeats, Amapiano and Afropop.

The high-energy video showcases the artists’ dance moves and dazzling choreography.

The Nigerian superstar raises the commercial ceiling of the rising hit song, adding his superstar element to the silky harmonies of Boypee, Hyce and Brown Joel.

Davido is a walking stimulus package, capable of raising the commercial ceiling of any song he graces. It also helps that he’s consistently tapped into emerging hit songs and is open to guesting on remixes, as shown on Lady Donli’s “Cash (Remix),” Young Jonn’s “Dada (Remix),” and more.

For his latest guest appearance, the Nigerian superstar features on the remix of “Ogechi,” a song that’s been spreading through TikTok and local airwaves at a fairly fast pace. The release also coincides with his wedding ceremony, and is also symbolic as a love song whose titular muse is from the south eastern part of Nigeria, the same region of the country his wife is from.

In a video shared on Bundesliga’s social media pages, Davies was asked to name top five the songs that prepare him for games and he mentioned two Davido’s songs.

“If I could only have five songs that I could listen to before games? That’s very tough! Okay, number one is ‘Nonstop’ by Drake, number two is ‘Fein’ by Travis Scott, number three is ‘Tombstone’ by Rod Wave, number four is ‘Legend Can Never Die’ by Davido and number five is ‘No Competition’ by also Davido,” he said.

He stated that Davido is his favourite African artist and ‘Kante’ by the DMW boss featuring Fave is his all-time favourite Afrobeats song.

Singer-songwriter Minz has collaborated with Afrobeats superstar Davido on his brand new single, “WAP.” This R&B song celebrates the adoration for a special someone and showcases the effortless blend of Minz and Davido’s voices.

“WAP” follows the trail of his lead single and first track of the year “Shadow”, extracted from his upcoming debut album, “By Any Minz”.
