EA Sports has once again merged football and music, unveiling the soundtrack for the 25th edition of EA Football Club. This year, the spotlight is on Afrobeats, with Nigerian music stars Rema, Shallipopi, and Omah Lay joining a global lineup of artists. The football video game is set to launch on September 27, 2024.

Rema’s hit single “Benin Boys” featuring Shallipopi, and Omah Lay’s chart-topping track “Moving,” are among the tracks showcasing the growing global influence of African music in this year’s EA Football Club soundtrack. This marks Rema’s second appearance on the soundtrack, following his debut on FIFA 21’s VOLTA Football soundtrack with “Beamer,” alongside other Nigerian artists like Fireboy DML, Burna Boy, Ms Banks, and Nnena.

Adding to the Afrobeats representation is UK-based Nigerian artist Obongjayar, with his 2022 hit “Tomorrow Man.”

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has alleged that a colleague he shared the idea of what was supposed to be his next album with, stole the idea to make his own album.

He stated that he shared the idea with the unnamed colleague because they wanted to collaborate but the artist went to release an album with the same idea he shared with him.

Speaking on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay said the incident made him re-record his album.

“My song ‘Holy Ghost’ is a new sound. I was going to make the whole album with the new sound but along the line, I changed my mind,” he said.

“I shared an idea with a certain artist and the artist went ahead and put out an album with my idea and I had to re-record my album.

“He came to me and I accepted for us to collaborate. Of course, it’s an artist that I love. And I told him where I’m headed with the sound. Five months later, he put out an album with exactly all the same sound that I shared with him.

“I had to go back and remake my album which is actually going to be the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.”

Taking to his official Instagram fan account, he posted a video of himself and Omah Lay singing the unknown song on Tuesday, August 30,2022.

The date of release and title of the song remains unknown as at now but it will be released in due time.

Fans are expected to anticipate nothing but a taintless banger from the duo.
