Many parents rely on their children to tow a particular career path and when that fails hell break loose. Most successful celebrities in the world that we all admire and adore hardly got the support of their parents and in one way or the other abandoned their home to pursue their dream. This case is similar to that of music duo Dope Nation comprising of Micheal Boafo popularly known as B2 and Tony Boafo known in showbiz as Twist.

Best known for producing hit songs such as Poison by Ebony Reigns, Wow by Joey B ft EL, Sebgefia by Joey B and EL, Forever by Eazzy ft Mr Eazi, Kpuu Kpaa by Shatta wale, Nana Ama by Pappy Kojo, among others the group surprised Ghanaians when they started producing for themselves.

With the success achieved and recognition gained in the music industry and beyond, most parents would be happy and proud of their ward for proving them wrong but that is a different story for these two.

During an interview with Chelsy Sey on Ryse N Shyne on Takoradi based Y97.9fm, B2 one half of the duo intimated that, their father who was then the principal of Takoradi Technical Institute tagged them as “stubborn kids” because they got themselves engaged in rap battles in schools and saw them towing the music path. He indicated they have not set eyes on their father who is a chief in Abeiabe Domenasi in Cape Coast since they left Takoradi at an early age.

“It was tough for us in the beginning of our music career and unfortunately we haven’t heard from our dad since we left Takoradi. But we are still working on that”

He again used the opportunity to advise parents who see their wards choosing music as a career to support them at an early stage because music pays.

“Some Ghanaian parents don’t see music as a career and that is really bad because music is putting food on many tables and is taking care of a lot of families and music is paying. Music is a career and it really pays so parents should start supporting their children’s dream to pursue a career in music now and not just reconcile with them only when they hit.”

The Music group have been nominated in four categories in this year’s VGMA. They are in a stiff competition with Wendy Shay, Eddie Khae, La Meme Gang, Kelvyn Boy and Quamina MP for the New Artiste of the year category and R2Bees, Better Revival Choir and La Meme Gang in the Group of the year Category

Their trending song ‘Naami’, a collaboration with Olamide made it to the Best African Collaboration category whiles “Eiish” made it to the Hiplife Song of the Year category.
