Belinda Akua Amoah aka Mzbel has stated that the ties that binds her to former president John Dramani Mahama is probably stronger than that of a blood relation.

The songstress celebrated the former president calling him by pet name “Popa Bear” in her birthday wish as he turns 60 years today.

“We might not share the same genes, but in my heart, you’ll always be my real pops. Happy birthday to the father I’m so happy came into my life.

“I hope this year brings you all the happiness you deserve. Happy birthday Popa Bear @dramani_mahama1 ????????,” her post read.

Well, for those who thought the “16 years” hitmaker will turn her back on John Mahama and the NDC, it appears the party is just starting.

Mzbel was attacked by some unidentified assailants during the 2016 electioneering campaign for openly campaigning for John Mahama and the opposition NDC.

She later had to fly out of the country to stay out of danger.

In a separate incident, a fan threw eggs at her while she was on stage performing in Belgium.

These incidents attracted sympathizers who claimed one had the freedom to join their association of choice without fear or favour, but others chastised her arguing that she should stay off politics as a celebrity as it could divide her fan base.
